Verity Jane has had an extremely successful year in 2013
with 5 number 1 hit singles, her album reaching number 1 and with her sell out
world tour, she has had an exciting year to say the least. However, with her
world tour beginning in less than 3
months, several rumors have been brought to our attention implying that
Verity has become a bit of a party addict and had in fact checked herself into
rehab in early December. Today we will be dishing out all of the gossip about
how Verity is coping as a world wide Super Star.
Q) So Verity, 2013 was your most successful year yet, how
has your life changed now that all eyes are on you 24/7? Do you ever find it
hard to be yourself?
Answer: Its honestly like my dreams as a child have come
true. I went from being an ordinary girl to being a sensation! The fans are
incredible and it makes me feel incredible and on cloud nine knowing that my
music makes a difference in their lives. -pause- Life in the spotlight is hard,
especially with the press and their stories! But hey! I'm a 21 year old, what
do they expect? -laughs-
Q) Recently there have been several rumors about your party
animal ways, you checked yourself into rehab is that correct?
Answer: Unfortunately yes that is true. The party life just
got too much for me, I was going out with friends almost every night and barely
spending any time with my family and I was completely exhausted. I would be
falling asleep in the studio and just messing things up all the time. I made
the completely right decision checking myself into rehab, it was tough but my
family and friends helped me through it all. And just because i'm in rehab does
not mean i'm a crack head -laughs- To be fair, some things that I do are pretty
stupid and I do get a good lecture or two from my parents but i'm young! I'm
just going with the flow and living life.
Q) Your world tour is fast approaching, are you ready?
Answer: I am more than ready, my tour is going to blow people
away they have no idea what they are in for.
Q) Drop us any hints?
Answer: -laughs- no way! This is top secret stuff. If you
wanna know what going down then you shoulda bought a ticket girl.
Q) Obviously this year you have been largely recognized for
your drinking and party antics. Will much of this be happening on your tour?
Answer: The tour will be one fat party!!! -laughs and
cheers- But my team said no alcohol is allowed which sucks.
Q) So, this year you have performed at many festivals, which
was your favourite and why?
Answer: -pause- hmmm, that is a tough one. I think 2013 has
been an amazing year for festivals, but, I think my personal favourite this
year would have to be V Fest. The crowd was insane! I stood up on stage and
just gasped, I was so taken aback by the amount of people and the noise! The
crowd created such a buzzing atmosphere! I was totally overwhelmed and had to
compose myself several times.
Q) Do you find it difficult coping with the things said and
written about you in the media?
Answer: One story that really pissed me off was my supposed
affair with David Beckham. I have met him twice, both times at Victoria's
clothing launch and just because I sat next to him i'm apparently sleeping with
him? I mean no way would I say no to him -laughs- sorry Vic, but the funny
thing is we barely even spoke, so how did they even come up with that rumour!
Don't get me wrong, he is so peng that I literally felt like I was going into
cardiac arrest and I had to seriously restrain myself from just pouncing on
him, but you can't violate girl code!! Sometimes it is tough and sometimes you
see things that you wish you hadn't and it makes you wonder why people would
write nasty stuff about you and publish it to the world. I suppose its worse for
me as I have never tried to change myself and the way I act when cameras are
around and I guess that makes me an easy target. My family and friends help me
through it all though, they are my rocks.
Q) What are your plans for 2014?
Answer: Well my tour is the main thing on my mind at the
moment. I will be bringing out another single in late July but I wont be
bringing out a new album til' at least 2015. But who knows, anything could
happen, you just gotta go with the floooooow.
Q) If you could, is there anything you would change about
your life?
Answer: I think I would change the amount of time I get to
spend with my fans. I dont spend enough time with them at all and its unfair
because without them I wouldnt have a career! This year is going to be different
and im going to create time to spend with my fans.
Contents Page Draft
This is a rough first draft of what I wanted my contents page to look like. I followed the original design of my flat plan that I created. I have used 2 images on my contents page as through my music magazine research I noticed that most magazine have 2-3 images on their contents page. I noticed that when 2 images were placed on the contents page, one image would also be a lot larger than the other so taking this into account I used these ideas and implemented them into my own contents page.
Front Page Construction
Below is an image of the page
measurements that I have used for my Front Page. The Width is 800 Pixels and
the Height is 1200 Pixels.
After confirming the page measurements, I dragged the image that I wanted to use as my front page into Photoshop and began editing.
Using the Liquify tool, I edited the image to make
certain features such as cheek bones and the jaw line to make them appear more
dominant. I noticed that these two facial features are usually edited and
focused upon on music magazines, especially when the model is a female. I used
the Pucker Tool to do this as this tool pinches the skin and brings it in to
give the model a trim and finished look.
After I had edited the image, I started to add some page furniture and design elements to bring my magazine to life. I started off by implementing a slogan into my magazine using the rectangle tool. I pulled this along the top of the page from left to right to create the box in which my slogan would be placed in.
To add straplines onto my contents page I had to use the text tool. I used this tool several times on my front page for the Masthead and for the different straplines that appear on the page to promote various music related things such as latest festivals etc.
This was my front page after all of the text that I had planned to place on the front page was added. The different straplines are dispersed appropriately around the main image and the main feature heading stands out on the page as it is in a bigger font than the other straplines on the page.

Another tool that I used was the Elipse Tool. I used this to circle one of the straplines featured on my front page to make it stand out to the audience further. The elipse tool gave the strapline a more defined look therefore making it more noticeable.
This is what my front page looked like after I added the Elipse tool around the "Top 20 Hits" strapline. I also added a barcode at the bottom of the front page, I rotated the barcode onto its side as from my research I noticed that this is what many other music magazines such as NME do.

Extra changes that I made to my front page consisted of the brightness and contrast of the page. At the moment, my front page colours look rather dull and I decided it would be best to use the brightness and contrast tool on my entire front page to give it a bright glow to make it more appealing to my target audience.
This is my front page after editing the brightness and contrast. The magazine now has pop music style look as all of the colours are bright and bold especially the typeface colours of bright blue and pink.
